Find Care
You can book appointments with your general practitioner, municipal health services, and certain departments in specialist healthcare if they use Helseplattformen.
Appointments can be booked up to 100 days in advance and on the same day.
Open appointment booking means it is available to everyone, and you can book an appointment without a referral or connection to a specific provider. Open appointment booking is available in some places, such as municipal low-threshold services.
The municipality provides a link to HelsaMi on its website. This allows you to choose an available appointment at the service you need, regardless of whether you are a HelsaMi user or not. However, you will still have the option to book an appointment via the link but will need to log in using ID-porten.
Here you will find an overview of your healthcare providers. These could include your general practitioner, physiotherapist, school health services, or others.
Under this menu, you can see the healthcare contacts who use HelsaMi. These may include:
- Healthcare providers (regular contacts you see during a treatment process)
- Your general practitioner (if they use HelsaMi)
- Municipal staff (if you receive municipal health and care services)
You will see the name and photo of the healthcare contact. If the staff member wishes, they can upload their own photo.
When you click on each healthcare contact, various options will appear, such as "book appointment" and "send message," where available.
Tips for better overview:
If you have many healthcare contacts visible in the list, for example, if you have extensive healthcare needs and are receiving treatment at multiple locations, you can choose to hide some of them if you prefer. You will still be able to access appointment bookings and messages for them if needed.
My health
In connection with your treatment, you may receive tasks in the HelsaMi app.
A task could involve answering a questionnaire, registering a measurement, reading information, etc.
The tasks available to you depend on the treatment or follow-up care you are receiving.
You will receive notifications when you have tasks to complete, provided you have allowed HelsaMi to send notifications.
In HelsaMi you will find a list with an overview of your past and upcoming appointments.
Since it is up to the healthcare provider to decide whether or not the appointments should be visible, not all appointments will be shown. Examples of appointments that are not displayed in HelsaMi include tasks assigned by healthcare professionals in home-based services. Therefore, you will not see visits from home care services, for example.
In HelsaMi, you will find test results in a list.
When you click on a test in this list, you will see several details:
- Your result for the test.
- The normal reference range for such a test.
- You can also choose to view "previous results" and a "graph with previous results."
The same test can be compared over time if it has been conducted multiple times.
Remember that you will not receive results for serious tests directly in HelsaMi.
Not all test results are available to you. Only results from tests ordered by healthcare providers working in an organization that uses the Helseplattformen system will be shown in HelsaMi.
Test results are shared with you based on four categories for sharing in Helseplattformen:
Category 1: Automatic sharing from the relevant laboratory to HelsaMi (e.g., COVID-19). You will receive the test result without a review by a healthcare provider, but the provider can add an additional comment to the result immediately after it is shared.
Category 2: Manual sharing with provider review and a safety net where the test result is automatically shared to HelsaMi if the provider has not shared it manually after 14 days.
Category 3: Manual sharing to HelsaMi after the provider’s review and your request. There is no automatic sharing if the provider does not share it. Examples include test results from hospital stays, nursing home stays, and serious test results.
Category 4: Blocked from sharing in HelsaMi. Providers cannot share the test result electronically. This includes, for example, genetic tests, tests containing results from multiple people, and other tests in accordance with Norwegian law.
Here you will find an overview of the medications you are using.
This overview is retrieved from the prescription intermediary. The list is updated each time a healthcare provider in Helseplattformen updates the medication list with prescriptions from either their own or other prescribers.
You can add your own comments about the use of each medication, such as if you are using a different dose than prescribed or if you wish to have a medication removed from the list. Comments related to each medication will be visible to the provider the next time you open the medication list.
You can also write a general personal note about side effects or other information that the provider will not see.
For medications in HelsaMi, the following applies:
When you consult with your general practitioner or have an appointment at an outpatient department, a medication reconciliation will occur when the provider (general practitioner or another provider) opens the patient journal.
The provider will open the patient journal and receive a notification if there has been a change in your medications.
The patient journal receives updates from the Central Prescription Module (SFM).
To perform such a medication reconciliation, the provider must be a user of Helseplattformen.
The medication presentation in HelsaMi should clearly display the date of the last update of the medications.

In HelsaMi, you can receive questionnaires sent by the provider in advance of an appointment or automatically generated during or after the appointment.
Other forms that the provider fills out during examinations will be added to your notes if relevant.
When you fill out forms digitally they will automatticly become a part of your patient journal.
In helsami you will find information that has been registered about you at treatment facilities that use HelsaMi.
This can include:
- Previous illnesses
- Surgical procedures you have undergone
- Medical history in your family that you have provided or that has been recorded
Here, you can also write notes for each individual item. These notes will not be visible to anyone other than yourself.
What are measurements and what are they used for?
In connection with treatment, you may be asked to record measurements in HelsaMi. For example, you might be asked to measure and record your weight, blood pressure, heart rate, or similar assessments.
The goal is to provide both you and your healthcare provider with a better understanding of your health condition and well-being, so that the treatment can be tailored to your situation.
Measurements and tasks
Recording a measurement is often set as a task in HelsaMi.
You can record your own measurements in measurement forms prescribed by your healthcare provider. The recording can be done manually or by sending data from your own devices, such as activity trackers or blood pressure monitors.
If your healthcare provider wants you to measure something, such as blood pressure or physical activity (exercise and training), this will happen here. You can connect your activity tracker or heart rate monitor to HelsaMi or record the measurement by entering the data manually.
Growth curves, primarily for pregnant women and children, will be available in HelsaMi.

Access and Sharing
If you are over 16 years old, you can grant access to relatives through HelsaMi. The person receiving access must be over 18 years old. Citizens can choose from four different types of access when granting access to a relative:
Full access
You give the person access to see everything you see and communicate with the healthcare service on your behalf. The person will also be able to respond to your questionnaires and view and edit your notes.
Reading access
You give the person access to view your health information, but not communicate on your behalf.
Communication only
You give the person access to view and manage appointments and send messages on your behalf.
Standard access
You give the person access to view upcoming appointments and health information, as well as send messages and book appointments. The person cannot see your personal notes, history, or previous appointments.
Under 16 years old: Parents can gain access. After this, the child becomes legally responsible for their helth decisions. Parents can view the same information for children they have access to as they can for themselves. Appointments and notes marked as sensitive will not be shown. One of the parents must have the same registered address in the folkeregister (national registry).
From the age of 16: Parents automatically lose access, and the child can log in with their own BankID. The child can then grant access to anyone over 18 as they wish.
Resources
You can also give consent if you are interested in participating in research projects. You will see an overview of the research projects or studies you are a part of.
You will receive this as a message in your HelsaMi and must click "interested" to proceed with the research. Afterward, you will receive a new message where you must respond to the consent form.
